Saratoga Hobo Hot Springs

These were great hot springs to stop by on our cross-country road trip!! Not too far of a detour off of i-80, ample parking and easy to find. I was drawn to them mostly because of the 24/7 accessibility, tho we did end up coming during "regular business hours", and there were a handful of other people there. There are the structured pools around the "lobster pot", as well as some areas in the river where the hot water passes through, enclosed with rock perimeters to create various temps of warm/hot water to relax in. I do wish the water in these sections was deeper to fully immerse/enjoy, but it was still nice to have the cold river right there for some hot/cold therapy. I wonder if it's a good idea to clean the algae all over the benches in the man-enhanced pools? As other reviews said, the bathrooms themselves are very lackluster, but just having the bathrooms and showers at a natural hot springs is enough of a luxury-enhancement that it doesn't warrant any detraction of stars.

Love these springs! The “pool” area has three hot springs that vary in water temperatures. These are the “lobster pot” which was 118 F when I was there in November, the second hottest is the big pool connected to the lobster pot, and a third spring that is the coolest (not pictured). There are two hot springs in the river which are cooler than the pools listed above. The changing areas have open area showers for use. There are some lockers to store bags but they do not have locks. These springs are free but there is a donation box for those who would like to support the staff who clean springs!

This was pretty cool to do. About 40 miles from Rawlins. Two of the pools were hot. The third pool was cold. It was nice going from cold to hot. I was able to sit on a rock with water up to my neck. If I didn't move I was ok but once I started to move I really felt the heat. I was in a section where it was between 107 and 111 degrees. I didn't get in Lobster, way to hot but others were. A lot of folks went to the river and sat in a pool which gets the run off from the 107 degree pool. Very much worth checking it out and it's free, 24 hrs a day.

One of those friendly neighborhood soaking spots that I will never not visit when passing through. I absolutely love chatting it up with the locals that are always so welcoming and wonderful. I ended up camping for a night at a nearby spot that allows you to stay for 5 nights by the water… so to my overlanding friends, this is such a great stop along your trails.
